Raine Mountain Hardware opened in Stewart in 2010, named after a local mountain, and has grown from 1,500 to 4,200 square feet of retail space under owner-operation.
It is the only hardware store within a 300-kilometre radius. That single fact is most of the business: it serves Stewart, Hyder in Alaska, and Meziadin Lake, and there is nowhere else for any of them to go.
The shelves carry over 10,000 items, from nails to children’s toys — the range a remote community needs when the store is also the only store.
The sale includes all equipment and assets needed to operate, and the land and building with them. The current owners will help through the transition.
