Premium custom stone fabrication business

A custom stone fabrication and installation business, better than a decade old, working for affluent residential and commercial clients in a major Canadian metropolitan market. The work is the technically difficult end of the trade: quartz, quartzite, marble and ultra-compact surfaces, installed to a standard that designers, builders and contractors come back for.

Roughly nine tenths of revenue comes from those repeat business relationships, which is what makes demand predictable rather than seasonal. The remaining tenth walks into a recently renovated showroom. Most projects are booked with a seventy-five percent deposit taken upfront, so the company funds its own work rather than borrowing against it.

It runs from about five thousand square feet of leased space holding the showroom, the office and a modern production floor: CNC fabrication machinery, an overhead crane system, and digital slab-mapping that speeds up vein-matching and cuts rework. A fresh seven-year lease was signed in 2025.

The past two years went into the parts of a business that do not show: tighter quoting and pricing discipline, quality-control checklists, complexity-based pricing on specialty work. Ten full-time staff run it, with three experienced subcontracted installation crews behind them, and an Account Manager and an Operations Manager were added specifically to take the business off the owner’s shoulders.

It has collected regional design awards, strong ratings across the major review platforms, and recognition from industry associations. The founder names the obvious next moves as direct-to-consumer marketing, a second production shift, and formalising account management further. After more than a decade running it hands-on, they are leaving for plans abroad and will stay for training, introductions and guidance through the handover.
